The photo shows three politicians: Angela Merkel, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Emine Erdoğan. The joke is that the caption might read, "Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Emine Erdoğan look at Angela Merkel." This plays on the fact that Emine Erdoğan is known for being a strong, independent woman. It also plays on the fact that Angela Merkel is a powerful woman, and the joke implies that she is not afraid of the Erdoğans. The joke is funny because it is a humorous commentary on the political relationship between Germany and Turkey. It also highlights the fact that women in power can be both strong and humorous. The joke would be understood by Turkish speakers because it uses a familiar figure of speech and references cultural stereotypes. It would also be understood because of the political context of the photo. The joke is not offensive because it is not directed at any one person and is meant to be lighthearted.
