What is the greatest gaslight of all time that no one seems to talk about? The organic food industry. Let me show you. First is just how expensive it is. Price data comparing the most common grocery items found that the organic versions of those foods were 68% more expensive. Meaning if a family of four wanted to eat organic, their monthly grocery bill just went from around $1,500 to over $2,500 a month. But that's okay, because at least organic food is safer and healthier for you, right? Well, not quite. This is Dan Glickman, the Secretary of Agriculture under President Clinton who created organic food labeling. And in his final statement, he said and wanted to make clear that the organic label is a marketing tool, not a statement about food safety or a value judgment about the nutrition or quality of the food. Did you hear that? The man who invented it said it has nothing to do with how safe or healthy your food is. Which brings us to our last point. We've tested it and it's not. When tested, organic foods don't contain any more nutrients than the conventional versions do. And it doesn't mean pesticide free. It just means different pesticides, which might sound better. But in some cases they're actually more toxic than the conventional versions. Take acetic acid and eugenol for example. Two of the most commonly used organic pesticides that have been shown to be 1.7 and two times as toxic and the most widely used conventional ones. I'm not saying you shouldn't care about the quality of your food. That absolutely matters. Just know this label doesn't measure quality. It's marketing, not science.
