Why Don't We Eat Turkey Eggs? Have you ever wondered why
Videoda söylenenler
Have you ever wondered why we don't eat turkey eggs? I mean, think about it. Turkeys are the fourth most popular meat in the U.S. There's tons of them. So why don't we eat their eggs? Well, it's not that you can't eat them. You can totally eat turkey eggs. In fact, they taste a lot like chicken eggs. So if that's not the reason, then what is? Well, turkeys can be a lot more expensive to raise than chickens. I mean, you can tell by their size that they require a lot more food and space. On top of that, turkeys lay eggs less frequently. Chickens can lay an egg every single day. Turkeys, when properly cared for, probably lay one to two eggs a week. And in a factory setting, I doubt they would lay that many. But the main reason is pretty self-explanatory. Turkey eggs are about 50% larger than chicken eggs. And when you factor in the cost of raising turkeys to produce eggs, their eggs would probably cost around $3 each, which you could spend that much to get an entire dozen of eggs in some parts of the country So it's just not cost effective.
