The photo shows German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan walking side by side during a visit to Turkey. The photo was taken at sunset with the iconic Bosphorus Bridge in the background. The joke in Turkish language is: "Merkel ve Erdoğan, Bosphorus köprüsünün altında değil, üstünde yürüyorlarmış. " This joke plays on the fact that the bridge is a very well-known landmark in Istanbul and the two leaders are walking above it, implying that they are out of touch with reality. It also uses the Turkish phrase "köprünün altında olmak", which literally means "to be under the bridge", but figuratively means "to be out of touch with reality".
