Why is driving to work in Chongqing so hard? First, I have to drive down a seven-story spiral ramp because my building is way above the ground floor. All I do is turn left, turn left, and turn left. I swear I'm getting motion sickness before I even hit the road. Finally, I'm out, driving through the lower deck of the city. Time to grab some breakfast. The McDonald's drive-thru on the lower deck is next to a Chinese restaurant, and somehow the patio is inside the drive-thru tunnel. Next stop, crossing the river, on the bottom deck of a double-decker bridge. Look, there's a subway running alongside the cars. Now I have to climb up the higher level to reach the city center. Just a casual drive 20 stories up into the sky. I keep climbing, and so does the subway. Oh hey, there's that train going straight through the building again. Then I pass by a gas station tucked inside a World War II bomb shelter. Good thing I'm driving an EV. My cluster phobia would not survive in there. Finally, I've made it to the city center. Let's head to the garage. Hold on, 500 meters down? How deep is this garage? 25%?! What kind of parking garage shows you progress bar? Alright, time to get off work. Running low on battery. Off to the charging station we go. Oh my god, Chongqing! Why do you have to make everything cyberpunk? Fully charged. Let's hit the road. Look at these curves, designed by Marilyn Monroe, apparently. And here we are, Hong Yadong, the most cyberpunk spot in Chongqing. And of course, I'm stuck in traffic. Thanks, tourists.
